(About The Images)
1924-S AU. 1924-S AU.
Lot Title: 1924-S AU.
Description: This is a very well-struck 1924-S. The coin sports a full horn with a clear and distinct tip, a full eye, and 80% or more of the beard detail. When talking about a 1924-S, that is really saying something. The obverse is equally well struck, lacking the usual softness through the braid and knot. The coin grades in the AU-55 to AU-58 range, but may have been lightly cleaned many years ago. The reverse is a shade lighter. Overall, a real cherry of a 1924-S.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

370The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$475.00
1924-S PCGS Genuine/code 92/as described.
PCGS questions the quality of the surfaces which do show signs of minor cleaning, as someone undoubtedly attempted to alleviate a bit of the light corrosion debris layered across each side. Any...
371The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$3,600.00
1924-S NGC MS-64.
95 graded MS-64, 20 higher. Many retailers laud the 1926-S as key to the buffalo nickel series, but take a careful look at the low population listed by NGC for 1924-S in MS-64. Significantly fewer...
364The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$3,600.00
1924-S NGC MS-64.
A low population (for such a widely collected series) of 93 in MS-64 and just 19 graded higher ensures that the 1924-S will never cease to be a key date in the set. Indeed, while 1926-S is often...
429The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$775.00
1924-S NGC XF-45.
Although the 1926-S is most often cited as the key to the Buffalo Nickel series, it is this cataloger’s opinion that the 1924-S is the true key in grades above VF. This issue suffers from all the...
980The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$900.00
1924-S XF-45+.
A stunning specimen of this highly desirable branch mint issue. Copiously toned in an intense pewter and tan blend. The strike is exceptional for the assigned grade.
1168The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,700.00
1924-S SEGS MS-64.
Here is a fully struck 1924-S nickel. The surfaces are clean, and the obverse has not a mark worth mentioning. The reverse is hampered by a thin scratch across Black Diamond's haunches. The reverse...
