(About The Images)
1916 and 1916-D PCGS. 1916 and 1916-D PCGS.
Lot Title: 1916 and 1916-D PCGS.
Description: While the 1916 dime is quite common even in high grades, it is hardly a secret that the 1916-D is not. Yet, both are included with this intriguing lot. The 1916 is graded MS-64 FB by PCGS, and is a delightful silvery-platinum coin with the usual needle-sharp strike. Strike quality of the 1916-D is actually very comparable to its companion coin, and your cataloger contends that this key should also have received the "FB" designation, as the central band features a complete split. What may have prevented assignment of the full band qualifier is a minuscule bagmark that crossed over the split of the lower band. At any rate, this is a premier quality coin, featuring a nearly full complement of mint luster that evades detection only on the uppermost detail points, where faint wear shows instead. Just a touch too much rub denies "slider" status, yet at arms length, the 1916-D varies very little from the 1916 in overall lustrous appearance. Closer inspection reveals excellent vintage surface quality, augmented by tasteful remnants of original tone embedded in the peripheral recesses. This key is graded AU-55 in a PCGS green label holder. Buy one coin, get one free!

1916 NGC MS-68.
1 graded MS-68, zero higher. Neither service has graded a 1916 Mercury dime beyond numerical MS-68 making this the absolute non-full-bands zenith of preservation for the ultimate first-of-series...

1916 NGC MS-66 FB and 1917-S PCGS MS-63 FB.
A pair of Mercury dimes includes 1916 NGC MS-66 FB and 1917-S PCGS MS-63 FB. The 1916 is an astounding ice-cold silver gem that could not possibly be more lustrous, and while the 1917-S is half a...

A no-question gem that departs from being fully white because of a wide blush of coffee-magenta toning sweeping down in front of Liberty's profile. The full bands are as straight and parallel as...

1916 PCGS MS-65 FB.
Many 1916 dimes were saved while the novelty of the design was still fresh, and thus Philadelphia examples are not rare, even with full bands. The present gem is housed in a green label PCGS holder....

1225The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$180.00
1916 NGC MS-66 FB.
This is a type set coin if I have ever seen one. It is visually breathtaking. There is a bit of attractive russet toning on the peripheries, and the devices are fully struck and super clean.
