(About The Images)
1859 NGC PF-67 Cameo. 1859 NGC PF-67 Cameo.
Lot Title: 1859 NGC PF-67 Cameo.
Description: Icy-white, with very obvious cameo effect on both sides, though the obverse probably possesses the better contrast. Some of the deepest recesses of the devices lack mint frost, but this is hardly unexpected of mid-nineteenth century proof coins. Details are as intricately sharp and finely detailed as can be expected. Intriguing evidence of rust pits on the dies can be inferred from numerous tiny pimples on the frosted devices.

High Estimate: $13,500.00

1859 PCGS MS-64 CAC.
Defying the usual convention of toned rims and brilliant central details, an aura of subdued platinum-grey patina surrounds Liberty's figure, ceding to silvery brilliance at the rims and ensures a...
430The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$5,250.00
1859 NGC PF-67 CAMEO.
Proof coins of the 1850s seem perennially underrated by collectors, even though they provide the best representation of Christian Gobrecht's vision of Seated Liberty. This is a glacier-white 1859...
423The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$290.00
1859 MS-60 Details, Altered Surfaces.
An unknown process was used apparently to disguise hairlines and add a lustrous effect to both sides of this antebellum dime. Beautifully retoned in gunmetal grey and blue colors.
1009The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$850.00
1859 NGC PF-62.
This is a nice bright dime with not one bit of toning. There are some lines on both the obverse and reverse, but they look like die polishing lines. Anyway, these coins are way underrated in Proof,...
