(About The Images)
1854-O AU Cleaned. 1854-O AU Cleaned.
Lot Title: 1854-O AU Cleaned.
Description: It is very uncommon to find this dated New Orleans example in such a well-preserved state. The rims are mark free, but the cleaned-looking surfaces, with minor nicks, suggest a possible ex-jewelry piece. However, this is a very respectable coin from a popular branch mint. In fact, any superior example would likely demand a $4,500 to $5,000 price.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

439The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$1,900.00
1854-O PCGS XF-40.
As seems to be common for circulated New Orleans gold, the surfaces are peppered with many tiny circulation marks, with one moderate ding on the right side of the obverse, and another near the center...
1066The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$925.00
1854-O VF details/cleaned.
Dull patina helps to reduce the glossy effects of an older cleaning, but hairlines are still discernible under a loupe. Detail is easily commensurate with a better VF grade, and some collectors might...

1854-O PCGS AU-50.
New Orleans minted three-dollar gold coins for the first and only time in 1854, the inaugural date of the series, and in better grades, it is a semi-key. In fact, only about twenty examples are...
762The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$4,550.00
1854-O PCGS AU-50.
Olive-gold patina has command of most of the surface area, except in the protected areas where some straw-gold luster is permitted to flicker and provide evidence of remaining luster. 1854-O is a...
991The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$2,000.00
1854-O NGC VF-35.
Rather devoid of the original surface quality one would want from a coin of this vintage, but being the only New Orleans issue of the denomination, the 1854-O never experiences a shortage of demand. ...

1854-O ANACS AU Details Net XF-45 Cleaned.
The sole year produced from this celebrated southern mint. An intriguing die break develops at the lower portion of the mintmark, travels to the lower right ribbon, and ends at the tip of a denticle...
965The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$1,060.00
1854-O F-15.
