Lot Title:
1882 NGC PF-64 Cameo.
Description:
Ivory-white devices look oh-so-lovely as they are proudly exhibited against the fully reflective and surprisingly clear fields. Indeed, merely a few wispy hairlines are responsible for the grade, and they are not at all obtrusive from a sensible viewing vantage point. While the reverse is pristine and sparkling white, the obverse features refined plush-violet tint that darkens tastefully against the rims. Many collectors are grievously unaware of the treasure to be found in premium-quality seated coins graded at the "PF-64 CAM" level, and this coin is a premiere example of what they are missing. Cataloger's note: damage to the lower right edge of the plastic slab does not appear to compromise the security of the coin.

Obvious cameo contrast is not called out in the NGC grade. Both sides are deeply saturated with gunmetal-blue toning. |

The light old cleaning has had no impact on the contrast, which is excellent, and really hasn't affected reflectivity much, other than clouding the fields slightly. Struck with extreme precision. |

For some reason I think circulated Proof coins are intriguing. This coin has just a small amount of rub in the fields. The devices are razor sharp and frosty white. A breath of russet toning can be... |
