Fr-2231G. It was once said that high school football is the purest form of the game. Athletes at this level actually play the game for the right reason -- because they love the it. From personal experience, I can tell you that there is nothing like gearing up for a game on a chilly Friday night. In the locker room, coaches are tweaking their game plans, trainers are taping ankles, and players are getting "Their Minds Right" for the game. The entire team gathers together to pray, then the coach gives an inspiring parable, lets his team know how proud he is of them, and them tells them to, "leave it all on the field." The players line up and walk from the locker room with nothing in their hearts but the anticipation and hopes of glory. There are very few feelings on this Earth better than busting through a paper banner and hearing everyone cheering for you and your team. For most of us, at least with regards to athletics, that period of our lives has come and gone. But that adrenaline rush that comes with such anticipation, and the ultimate satisfaction that comes from victory, can still be had. But the conditions have to be just right. The offering of this note presents such an opportunity. It is one of those pieces that can raise your collection to a whole new level. According to the Treasury, only 340 $10,000 bills remain outstanding, and this example is from the extremely scarce Chicago district. Conditionally, it appears to be without flaw. The centering is pleasing, and the light green seal ink is perfectly preserved. It is time for you to look deep within yourself and decide if you want to run through that banner. If you want a taste of victory, and if you want to have the proverbial water cooler dumped on your head like so many winning coaches and players before you, than win this note. For coin and currency collectors, there is nothing like the feeling of a room full of people standing and applauding for YOU in the auction room after a well-fought battle for an awesome lot like this.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
