(About The Images)
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. AU. 1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. AU.
Lot Title: 1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. AU.
Description: Fr-29. Very attractive paper that looks and feels uncirculated save a little fading on the left. The margins are nearly centered and better than average for an 1880 large brown seal note that is just barely denied a fully uncirculated grade by a faint center fold.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

18The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$650.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. PMG Net CHCU-61/discoloration.
Fr# 29. The "discoloration" noted seems to refer to a possible slight burn at the very top edge toward the right. Otherwise, the note looks just like a typical CU example.
19The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$875.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. CHCU.
Fr# 30. Big, bright, bold and beautiful -- the embodiment of a ChCU large-sized note. This 1880 legal tender $1 shows nice, subtle color and attractive margins, although a micro-stain shows on the...
36The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$600.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. CHCU.
Fr# 30. Impressive margins frame this pleasing brown-seal note. Choice CU.
26The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$525.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. PMG AU-55 EPQ.
Fr-28. It's tough to be sure in the holder what bars a CU grade, as this faces up as a beautiful, solid unc. Edges and corners are wonderfully sharp.
105The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$110.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. F.
Fr-28. The seal is not all that vivid, and the final digit in the serial number is stuck between "8" and "9" - a minor but interesting error! "Fine" overall with average folds.
100The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$925.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. CU.
Fr-30. Probably a Choice CU note, but a bottom right corner bend could prevent some potential bidders from awarding that grade. A very nice example of the type with a large brown seal.
126The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$1,200.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. PMG CHCU-64 EPQ.
Fr-30. Original and with exceptional paper quality. The margins are decent, even if a bit uneven. Great color and wonderful for the grade. It is a true high-grade example of this type.
147The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$675.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. AU.
Fr-29. Scarce Legal Tender type in full AU condition. The paper is extremely crisp, but it appears to have been lightly pressed at one time. The color on the front is as rich as it gets, and the...
134The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$625.00
1880 $1.00. Large Seal Red Numbers. CHCU.
Fr-30. Here is a spectacular type note with its large brown seal, fantastic embossing, and crispiness. Would probably be considered Gem if not for the tight left margin. The ink presence couldn't...
