Lot Title:
1878 PCGS PF-62
Description:
Typically, MS-62 is assigned to proof coins with noticeable hairlines, but such does not appear to be the case here. Rather, some murky patina deprives this coin of a portion of its brilliance, though mirrored fields are unmistakably present beneath the veil. The reverse seems a little better preserved in this regard, and both sides display some obvious cameo contrast and phenomenally sharp details. Die specialists may find themselves intrigued by evidence of die rust on some devices.

An uncertified 1878 Trade dollar that grades PR-62 and has hazy patina that partially disguises lightly hairlined fields. Much cameo frost is evident. |
