(About The Images)
1882 PCGS PF-67. 1882 PCGS PF-67.
Lot Title: 1882 PCGS PF-67.
Description: Beige-yellow iridescence shimmers tastefully beneath the thin patina that flows across this superb proof type coin, accented with a large area of aquamarine that emanates from the center of the reverse. Even without a loupe, the devices appear frosty and precisely struck, and close examination will confirm this impression. Indeed, the obverse nearly qualifies for a "cameo" designation, though the reverse offers less contrast. Exceedingly sharp details rise above the norm for early proof coins struck on tough nickel planchets, and the absence of blemishes benefits the eye appeal and value of this gorgeous gem. PCGS has certified none and NGC four higher than PF-67.

541The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$400.00
1882 NGC PF-64 CAMEO.
Clem Stevens Collection. Blistering, crisp contrast will clamor for the cameo designation every time for this clean, bright proof nickel, though the reflectivity on each side admittedly sees some...
338The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$475.00
1882 NGC PF-65.
So-called "2/1". A die-break at the far right of the "2" has sometimes been mistaken as an underdigit, but it is positioned too far to the right to match up with any known 1881 die. A tiny crumble...
334The Midwest Summer Sale 2012 on 07/27/2012$900.00
1882 NGC PF-66.
There is basically not a single contact mark to be found on either side, attesting to a high level of preservation in the "very gem" grade range. A minor crumble or two of dark carbon are located...
904The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$475.00
1882 NGC PF-65.
Obverse quality is outstanding for a proof type whose production gave the 19th century mint fits. There is no sign of weakness or planchet deficiency at all on this more important side, though the...
502The Midwest Summer Sale 2011 on 07/29/2011$200.00
1882 NGC MS-64.
Die cracks on the obverse left side are beginning to created a dramatic retained cud, and there are additional cracks menacing IGWT, and other areas of the obverse periphery as well. The dies were...
365The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$775.00
1882 NGC PF-66.
Lavender-grey patina sweeps across the upper third of the obverse and mingles intermittently on the reverse with competing shades of apricot-gold. If the mint really had difficulty striking nickel...

1882 NGC PF-66.

540The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$625.00
1882 PCGS PF-65.
By the end of the run of shield nickels, proof dies were showing their age, and despite increased striking pressure, sharp details were not the norm. Very little contrast was produced for this...
541The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$675.00
1882 NGC PF-66.
Surfaces shine brightly with amazing chromium brilliance, contrasting just a little with lightly frosted texture on the shield device and only faint texture on the reverse devices. Details are...
484The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$1,450.00
1882 Shield nickel, NGC PR-67 CAM
A flawless appearance is given by this marvelous proof nickel even under a powerful glass. Rollicking mint luster is surprisingly strong, given the "cameo" designation, but this coin glitters with...
402The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$500.00
1882 PF-65.
