Lot Title:
1884 NGC MS-67.
Description:
This magnificent type coin possesses all of the appeal of a proof - and then some! If anything, the lofty NGC assessment of MS-67 seems conservative, as the surfaces exude pristine quality that seemingly borders on perfection. The only detraction revealed by your cataloger's loupe is a tiny teardrop shaped mark floating below the bust, and it is really trivial. Although it is unquestionably a business strike, specimen quality can be ascribed this diminutive gold coin, as the devices and lettering all display fine, fleecy texture that contrasts well with the very slightly reflective fields. A stunning gem that demonstrates how much eye appeal can be condensed down into a tiny package. Phenomenal!
