(About The Images)
1922-S NGC MS-65. 1922-S NGC MS-65.
Lot Title: 1922-S NGC MS-65.
Description: As a hoard coin, the supply of uncirculated 1922-S Saint-Gaudens double-eagles is actually rather plentiful, though the vast majority are relegated to the lower levels of mint state. Gems are undeniably rare, with no more than about twenty-five examples combined PCGS and NGC's population reports, and only a handful of issues in the series are valued higher at the MS-65 level. Hints of mottled tan color appear between some of the obverse rays, while better facial features and a rounded breast and knee suggest a decent strike.
Low Estimate: $33,000.00
High Estimate: $40,000.00

1111The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$6,600.00
1922-S NGC MS-64.
234 graded MS-64, 16 higher at NGC. Beautiful medium-gold with pleasing olive accents on the devices helps to accentuate the otherwise mundane strike. High mintage does not always mean high survival...
1200The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$4,200.00
1922-S NGC MS-63.
Mintage of 2,658,000 was quite large for the Saint series, but this tells only a small part of the story. By far, most of this issue must have been melted or exported shortly after production, since...
1075The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$7,500.00
1922-S PCGS MS-64.
The difference between properly graded MS-63 and MS-64 Saint-Gaudens double eagles can be dramatic, and the lovely appearance of this better date exemplifies that notion. An excellent strike is...
1152The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$3,600.00
1922-S PCGS MS-63.
Typically marked for the MS-63 level, with no singularly offensive distractions - just a generous supply of tiny nicks and abrasions. The strike is a little on the weak side, and a slender die crack...
1153The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$6,750.00
1922-S PCGS MS-64.
Collectors recognize the fact that the difference between MS-63 and MS-64 for Saint-Gaudens double eagles can indicate dramatic variability in quality, and the lovely appearance of this better date...
1188The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$2,000.00
1922-S NGC MS-62.
A delightful specimen of an issue that was at a time extremely elusive and which still are in the MS-64 grade level and higher. An opportunity to acquire a specimen at a more attainable level. This...
