(About The Images)
1875-S Trade dollar, Chop Mark, PCGS MS-64. 1875-S Trade dollar, Chop Mark, PCGS MS-64.
Lot Title: 1875-S Trade dollar, Chop Mark, PCGS MS-64.
Description: It is curious that grading services have determined that a coin that "circulated" in the far east (how could it be chop marked if it never circulated?) and is damaged by a counter stamp can be considered mint state, much less near a gem grade, but such is the grading paradigm today: "grade everything". This is a bright white coin with a good strike and a planchet bend due to the single chop mark at 10:00 on the obverse.
Low Estimate: $950.00
High Estimate: $1,100.00
Lot Status: Bidding has been closed for this lot.
Hammered Price: $1,700.00

1875-S UNC details/cleaned.
Lurking between the eagle's left (observed) wing and talon is a fairly brief yet rather deep scratch that can be surprisingly easy to miss. Both sides of this ivory-white coin offer full blazing...

1875-S PCGS MS-63.
The type collector seeking brilliant coins may well find suitable representation here for his Trade dollar. The entire surface gleams with nearly unlimited brilliance, showing flashy character that...
805The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$3,200.00
1875-S NGC MS-64 (no line).
They graded 'em "right" way back when, and this Trade dollar was put into its NGC slab back during the brief "embossed back" era, when grading was generally deemed to have been more conservative than...
806The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$2,300.00
1875-S PCGS MS-64.
Obv 1/Rev 1. Many a collector wants his type coins to be as pristine as possible, and to that end, a blazing white trade dollar like this does not disappoint. Surfaces gleam with silvery brilliance...

1875-S/CC ICG AU-58.
Natural Classic's Collection. Type-1/Type-1. The strike is unexpectedly very sharp, perhaps imparted from early dies that allowed the full S/CC feature to be readily discernible. Both sides are...
634The Collectors' Auction 2012 on 10/05/2012$525.00
1875-S, 1877, and an 1878-S, XF/as described.
A trio of more common trade dollars all feature outstanding detail, but also show some surface detractions. An 1875-S leads off with AU details, but it also has light, swoopy horizontal hairlines...
584The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$240.00
1875-S AU.
ANACS photo-certified with a grade of AU-50/AU-50, but subsequent storage seems to have induced some PVC residue on the pale white surfaces. Definition is unusually weak at Liberty's head, a...
585The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$340.00
1875-S NGC AU-58.
Lack of highpoint definition is due more to strike than wear, since there is only modest rub from circulation, as should be expected of AU-58. Liberty's coronet, downward arm and foot are somewhat...
586The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,550.00
1875-S PCGS MS-63.
Sharp luster as it booms off this Trade dollar is exceptionally vibrant and instantly captivates the eye with premium-quality appeal. The dramatic cartwheel effect is uninhibited in spite of mild...

1875-S NGC AU-58.
An 1875-S Trade dollar graded AU-58 by NGC. Nice color and character, with an abundance of die polishing lines.
695The Midwest Summer Sale 2010 on 07/23/2010$1,350.00
1875-S PCGS MS-63.
Wonderful definition is sharp, but not quite full, since shallow roller marks can still be seen across the eagle's motif, not eradicated by the strike. Sensational luster gleams from the fields and...

1875-S NGC MS-62.
Assorted contact marks are visible on nearly the entire length of Liberty's resting arm, and an additional patch of tiny blemishes appear beneath the sprig held in her outstretched hand. However,...

1875-S and 1877-S.
A couple of Trade dollars are included in this lot. The consignor stated on his submission form that the 1875-S is chop marked, but your cataloger notes that the counterpunch has the appearance of an...
726The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$360.00
1875-S, 1876-S and 1877-S AU/lightly cleaned.
A trio of uncertified Trade dollars, cataloged as follows: 1875-S (XF-40/cleaned), 1876-S (AU-50/polished), and 1877-S (XF-45). The latter coin borders on AU for this three coin lot.

1875-S, 1876 and 1876-CC AU.
A trio of Trade dollars appear in this lot. The 1875-S has a fascinating appearance with much of the obverse swathed in rich lavender-sienna but green corrosion spots the reverse, rendering a grade...
728The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$1,500.00
1875-S/CC PCGS AU-55.
Although the "S/CC" feature has been known for 1875 for several decades, it's scarcity was not understood until perhaps the last twenty years, when it became apparent that no more than a few hundred...
729The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$1,025.00
1875-S PCGS MS-62.
Vibrant multi-axis mint luster swirls about the central portrait, and falls into a more usual cartwheel pattern around the eagle on the reverse. Pearl-grey patina dominates most of the coin, except...

1875-S Trade dollar, MS-62

709The Midwest Winter Sale 2007 on 02/09/2007$5,750.00
1875-S NGC MS-65.
This lavishly toned Gem specimen mingles golden peach and sky blue to produce an opulent aspect. The reverse is toned more subtlety. A meager number of ticks are observed if diligently scrutinized. ...

1875-S AU-55.
A pale silvery aspect is observed on this San Francisco issue, which has been lightly cleaned at one time. Just a touch of wear is observable on its highest design elements. Some faint hairlines,...
