A mintage of only 11,100 pieces automatically qualifies the 1860-O eagle as a candidate for scarcity, and a PCGS population of fewer than a handful of higher graded examples bears this out. A quick review of auction records shows that in uncirculated grades, they practically never come to market, so a high-end, original AU coin like this is about all that the aficionado can aspire to.
