(About The Images)
1801 (O-101) Draped Bust half-dollar, F-12 1801 (O-101) Draped Bust half-dollar, F-12
Lot Title: 1801 (O-101) Draped Bust half-dollar, F-12
Description: This is a fabulously original example of this extremely tough date that just barely meets requirements for assignment of a "fine" grade. Indeed, the rims are actually not quite complete, as there is merging of LIBE, but this is not an uncommon characteristic of O-101, the more prevalent die marriage for the date. Rims are perfect and no defects of note are present at all, and to top this off, the coin is pleasantly album toned with cobalt blue color enhancing the margins. Fantastic coin!

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

687The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$3,600.00
1801 (O-101, R.3) VF.
With sharpness that is just on the cusp of the "extremely-fine" level, this very difficult 1801 properly grades VF-35 due to an absence of luster at the edges. A very boldly detailed coin, clearly...
688The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$2,600.00
1801 (O-101, R.3) XF/slight porosity.
Small die pits near the arrowheads produced raised areas on the coin and instantly identify this as O-101, the more common of the two die marriages for 1801. Of course, "common" is used in a relative...
483The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$1,050.00
1801 (O-102, R.4+) ANACS VG-10 Details, scratched.
The ANACS disclaimer of "scratched" almost seems unnecessary for a rare 200 year old coin that has survived to modern times with original patina intact and a pleasing appearance overall. The "scratch"...
511The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$2,400.00
1801 O-101 VF-20.
As the number of coin collectors entering the market continues to grow, the pressure and demand on genuinely scarce coins, such as the present 1801 Draped bust half-dollar, has dramatically increased...
512The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$8,250.00
1801 O-101 PCGS XF-45.
A2 does not touch the Eagle’s wing, verifying this as O-101 (not indicated on the slab), the more common of the two die marriages for 1801. Although lightly cleaned, considerable detail remains on...
1107The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$6,250.00
1801 O-101, R-3. XF-40.
The smoky gray surface aspect of this issue is embellished with a copious lavender aspect and traces of sky blue at portions of the peripheries. A few delicate hairlines are masked, for the most...
