Lot Title: 1807 (O-110) Draped Bust half-dollar, G-6
Description: Pale grey with very little hair detail, not to mention merging of the obverse fields and the back of Liberty's tresses. The reverse is a bit bolder, except for the left (observed) wing, which faintly merges with the field.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Low Estimate: $85.00
High Estimate: $100.00
Lot Status: Bidding has been closed for this lot.

556The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,200.00
1807 XF.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Extremely original surfaces feature marvelous mulberry-grey patina that mixes with ebony accents to present a coin of formidable eye-appeal at the XF-40 grade. ...
557The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$270.00
1807 with JSM counterstamp.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. J.S. MILLER is a known counterstamp, but shown here are only the initials "J.S.M." (or possibly I.S.M.). The host 1807 draped-bust half-dollar grades near Fine...
558The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$450.00
1807 (O-101, R.5) VF/cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Plentiful hairlines crisscross within the fields, yet some patina has managed to recover throughout, slightly mollifying the offensive aspects of cleaning. ...
559The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$725.00
1807 (O-102) VF.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. The obverse die created only a shallow impression, but the placement of strong details on the reverse suggest an overall grade of VF-35. Identification of...
560The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$550.00
1807 (O-103) VF/cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Enticing luster readily emanates from the outer areas despite the "cleaned" disclaimer, and this ought to be a lock for VF-35 details, which incidentally is how...
561The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$975.00
1807 (O-105) VF.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. VF-30 seems to be a good indicator of lengthy delineation of Liberty's tresses, and strongly sculpted feathers within the eagle's wings. The tail shows unusually...
562The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$160.00
1807 (O-105a) F/cleaned/scratched.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. One brief hairline scratch at the lower left curls, and a couple of hairlines near the bow account for the "scratched" disclaimer for the obverse, while a couple...
563The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$230.00
1807 (O-105a, R.4) F.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. General appearance is that of a low-contrast early half, and each side does show some thin hairlining that suggests cleaning. Medium-grey now, the obverse shows a...
564The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$230.00
1807 (O-106) F/cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Strongly detailed for the Fine level, such that F-15+ could be about right for details-only. The appearance isn't as bad as one might expect given the "cleaned"...
565The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$600.00
1807 (O-106) XF/polished.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. "Polished" can be such a stressful term, but it's difficult to choose another given the excessively bright surface texture that also offers hints of chromelike...
566The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$280.00
1807 (O-107) F.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. The consignor called this Fine at one point, then later changed his assessment to VF. F-15 seems to be an appropriate compromise, given that the die-marriage was...
567The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$825.00
1807 (O-108) VF.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Softly glowing undertones suggest an old, old dip but the low-contrast visual appeal remains compatible with a VF-35 grade estimate. Tasteful frosty texture...
568The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$180.00
1807 (O-109a) VG/cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Given this half-dollar has only VG details, it's odd that someone would choose to clean it ("See? Looks unc now!") as the process did leave behind some charcoal...
569The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$255.00
1807 (O-109a) VF/polished.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Whether heavily cleaned or just outright polished, either way the finer details have been smoothed down, giving the entire coin an unnatural glossy appearance. ...
570The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$975.00
1807 (O-110) XF/harshly cleaned.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Whizzing, or some other wire-brush process has created a granular appearance that has since recovered odd, mottled drab toning throughout both sides. Pinpoint...
571The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$500.00
1807 (O-110a) XF/corroded.
Courteous Collection of Early Type. Dark, ponderous toning envelopes the entire coin and entices deeper inspection. Then, isolated patches of corrosion will be found, including a strip of...
820The Collectors' Auction 2011 on 10/21/2011$5,000.00
1807 (O-110a, R.2) ANACS MS-61.
As a very late die-state of O-110, the reverse features a thin die crack that arcs downward from the second "S" in STATES, as well as clashing in the same vicinity. Details are surprisingly sharp for...
477The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$6,050.00
1807 (O-110a, R.2) ANACS MS-61.
Overton's census for 1807 O-110 contains only two uncirculated coins (MS-62 and MS-60), and upper-end AUs thereafter. Of course, for better or for worse grading standards were different back then,...
472The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$675.00
1807 O-109a, R.3) NGC VF-30.
Olive-grey patina drapes over the entire surface, assuring a fully original and undisturbed appearance. Essentially no luster remains at all, as is expected of coins in the VF grade range. Neither...
412The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$1,450.00
1807 (O-103, R-3) PCGS XF-40.
Overall flatness of detail and appearance should not be mistaken for wear from circulation, since O-103 was always struck in shallow relief. Indeed, it may be a mild surprise that PCGS assigned a...
698The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$2,050.00
1807 Draped Bust (O-105,R.1), 1807 Capped Bust, 50 over 20 (O-112,...
Four early half-dollars are included in this lot, and all of them are of favorable quality. The 1807 O-105 draped bust grades F-15 with album toning that is beginning to form pleasant cobalt-blue and...
699The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$975.00
1807 (O-105a, R.4, LDS) XF.
CONSIGNOR: Amazing color, just amazing. It's so hard to find these draped bust halves with the rich color, and when you do, whew! The prices they are asking! But look how nice it is, luster,...
662The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$380.00
1807 (O-106, R.3) VF.
Purely original in every respect, with dove-grey patina that yields to handsome amber-gold luster in protected areas between the stars and lettering. O-106 is an Overton variety characterized by...
529The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007$725.00
1807 O-110a VF-30.
A coin that represents the latest known die state, with die cracks encircling both the obverse and reverse. From a technical standpoint, this is a superb early half dollar with vivid lime green and...
566The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$130.00
1807 NGC Good-6.
This uniformly toned handsome type specimen exhibits no abusive marks. Only two fine scratches are detected on its reverse beneath the arrow feathers. A visually appealing example for this grade...
567The Midwest Summer Sale 2007 on 07/27/2007$230.00
1807 O-110, R-2. F-15 cleaned.
This piece has attained a smoky gray bearing after being cleaned long ago. Some faint hairlines are present, but detracting marks or blemishes are absent. Liberty's drapery lines and shield lines...
1372The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$340.00
1807 O-108, R-3. VF-25.
The surfaces have an appealing smoky gray aspect. Very faint graffiti is observed in front of Liberty's profile, as well as a darker toning streak on the reverse. Pleasingly struck for the grade.
1373The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$450.00
1807 O-104a, R-4 NGC VF-30.
The natural gray coloration of this specimen is enriched with an exquisite gold hue and faint blue splashes. Some light hairlines are observed when employing a glass on this lovely specimen. A...
1374The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$380.00
1807 O-103a, R-3. VF-35.
Silvery surfaces with pale green highlights. Lightly clashed on the reverse, there are otherwise no detractions or blemishes to note on this charming last year type issue.
1375The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,400.00
1807 XF/AU.
What makes this coin so special is its originality. Hints of rose, turquoise, and violet can be observed on both the obverse and reverse of this well-struck and problem-free Bust Half Dollar. There...
1376The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$1,550.00
1807 XF+.
This is a wonderful early type coin. Free of any marks or abrasions, this coin has nothing but wear. The coin looks as if it might have been dipped thirty years ago, but now has a light patina over...
1377The Midwest Summer Sale 2006 on 07/21/2006$2,400.00
1807 O-105, R-1. NGC AU-53.
A resplendent issue displaying an exquisite mixture of golden violet toning. Some older and "toned over" marks are observed on Liberty, but are not obtrusive and consistent with pieces of this era. ...
