Lot Title:
1910 Lincoln cent, PCGS PR-65 RB
Description:
Several patches of die polish look like stringy raised lines crisscrossing the area within "D WE TR" on the obverse, and this diagnostic, combined with the sharp, square rims and razor sharp detail, combine to produce designation of this coin as a matte proof Lincoln cent. There is something special about how a matte proof's luster is soft and satiny, yet simultaneously infused with energy, and this coin is just like that. The glistening obverse appears to be a near lock for a "red" designation, though some mellow brown color infuses the upper left portion of the reverse.

More of a fiery red aspect blankets this specimen's opulent surfaces than the label would indicate. A couple ticks appear on the reverse of this elegantly struck example. |
