1866 and 1898-S Coronet double-eagles, certified 1866 and 1898-S Coronet double-eagles, certified
Lot Title: 1866 and 1898-S Coronet double-eagles, certified
Description: A pair of Coronet double-eagles are certified as follows: 1866 "with motto" (NGC XF-45) and 1898-S (PCGS AU-50). In spite of the five point disparity in grade between the two coins, the amount of luster on each is surprisingly similar. Two coin lot from the "Nebraska Patriot's" collection.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

High Estimate: $1,500.00

What should be the top of a "6" (or less likely, an "8") misplaced in the dentils southeast of the final digit can be clearly seen with a loupe. Is this even a known die variety?? Semi-lustrous...
