1859 Indian Head cent, NGC PF-66 1859 Indian Head cent, NGC PF-66
Lot Title: 1859 Indian Head cent, NGC PF-66
Description: It seems pretty clear that this marvelous proof Indian cent is worthy of at least some consideration for a "cameo" designation. There is obvious contrast between the way the devices diffuse light and the reflectivity of the backing fields. Despite a relatively prodigious production of 800 examples, only a couple have been graded higher by NGC, and of course, coins winning the "cameo" designation are downright rare. This example is untroubled by spots or stains, and is only tastefully accented with rouge tone across the honey-gold surfaces.
Low Estimate: $4,200.00
High Estimate: $5,250.00

1859 NGC MS-62 with Eagle Eye photo seal.
Rick Snow's photo-seal confirms the grade, which makes sense since this is an amazingly original MS-62 that has not been enhanced in any way. Deep, dusky olive-bronze toning dominates the coin yet...

1859 and 1861 "copper-nickel" Indian Head cents, PCGS.

211The Collectors' Auction 2008 on 10/17/2008$450.00
1859 MS-63.
Cola-tan patina imbues this inaugural Indian cent with lovely, original eye appeal. A little weakness a the ends of the feathers attests to some incompleteness of strike, and the date is struck in low...

1859 VF-30 and 1860 MS-63+ Indian Cents.
The 1859 Indian head cent is actually quite close to an XF grade, but the ribbon lacks edges, and the leaves in the wreath are not delineated quite sharply enough to allow the higher grade. The 1860...
