Lot Title:
1842 Coronet quarter-eagle, ANACS AU-50, cleaned
Description:
Rather harshly scrubbed, or possibly whizzed or erasered, and because the imparted hairlines run counter to the direction of the original flow lines, the improper luster has a very odd appearance. This is true of both sides. On a positive note, this is a very difficult issue to locate in any grade, as the meager survival rate from a run of just 2,823 coins certainly leaves very few examples extant.
