Lot Title:
1817 and seven additional large-cents (some attributed)
Description:
We have these large cents (with earlier dates attributed), cataloged as follows: 1817 N-6 (VF-20 / EAC12), 1830 N-8 (XF-45 recolored / EAC20), 1835 N-3 (VF-20 corroded / EAC8), 1837 N-4 (XF-40 / EAC20), 1837 N-4 (XF-45 / EAC30), 1850 (XF-40 cleaned / EAC15), 1853 (MS-63 BN /EAC50), and 1855 (AU-55 / EAC40). The 1830 almost looks like a red/brown UNC, but is on fact recolored in the exposed areas, with the reddish color in the protected recesses. The two 1837s are both N-8, popular for the lengthy obverse die crack. Eight coin lot.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
