Lot Title:
1811/09 (LM-1) Capped Bust dime, very late die-state F-12
Description:
Some regrettable old scratches across the obverse admittedly impair this coin to a small degree, but the appearance is nonetheless acceptable considering the nearly two centuries it has been around. There is but a single die marriage known for 1811, but collectors who research and study die states will find much to enjoy about this coin. It is in a very late die state, with bountiful clash marks that led to the shattered reverse die, evident by the moderately corrupted details above the eagle's left wing.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
