Lot Title: 1793 (S-8 'vine and bars') Wreath cent, NCS VF details
Description: Fortunately, the obverse of this Wreath cent is a little nicer than the reverse, with some smoothness apparent on the higher points (though the coin is undeniably microporous throughout). All legends and numerals are bold, except for the last digit in the date, which is a bit weak on the lower curve. A dull rim bump at 4:00 is the only post-mint handling deficiency of note. EAC 8.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

161The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$500.00
1793 Vine/Bars Edge Poor.
Campania Estate. Not readily attributed, suffice it to say that this is a low-grade wreath cent, albeit one with some typical roughness and greenish verdigris lurking across the surface. A classic...
278The Midwest Summer Sale 2014 on 07/18/2014$1,750.00
1793 Wreath, Vine and Bars Edge (S-9, R.2) NGC VG details/damaged.
Modestly micro-porous overall, the coin nonetheless features unexpectedly nice, frosty walnut-brown color that would immediately appeal to any aficionado of early copper. The NGC disclaimer properly...
303The Collectors' Auction 2013 on 10/18/2013$3,800.00
1793 (S-9, R.2) Vine/Bars Edge. NGC XF Details/corrosion.
Both sides shows extensive, moderately matte texture almost entirely, though the amazingly consistent walnut patina actually goes to considerable lengths to enhance overall eye-appeal. Slightly...
219The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$310.00
1793 "Electrotype" of S-6," Vine/Bars Edge" variety. VF.
Made before passage of the Hobby Protection Act of 1974, thus "COPY" is not required to be stamped onto this very handsome electrotype wreath cent. Outstanding detail is featured on both sides,...
220The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$2,300.00
1793 Vine/Bars Edge (S-8, R.3) NGC Fine Details/corrosion.
NGC indicates "corrosion" on the label and displays a loose grade evaluation of "Fine details". These statements are both true, although certainly coins with even worse surfaces have been and do get...
221The Collectors' Auction 2010 on 10/15/2010$1,800.00
1793 Vine/Bars Edge (S-9, R-2). F, bumby rims.
Opportunity to satisfy the need for a wreath cent inexpensively is appreciated by many collectors, and rim bumps affecting both sides may help lower the price of an example without infringing on...
113The Midwest Winter Sale on 02/12/2010$330.00
1793 "Electrotype" of S-6, "Vine/Bars Edge" variety. VF.
Having been made prior to the Hobby Protection Act of 1974, "COPY" is not required to be stamped onto this very handsome electrotype wreath cent. Outstanding detail is featured on both sides, derived...
102The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$875.00
1793 Vine/Bars Edge. NCS Good details/corroded/improperly cleaned.
A stronger date would allow for fully VG sharpness, but the lack thereof leads to proper assessment of just G-4 details. The NCS holder states so and also indicates "cleaned", though such a...
104The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009$475.00
1793 Vine/Bars Edge. F details corroded.
Likely S-8, since the obverse is almost certainly "9", combined with a vine-and-bars edge and a ribbon on the reverse that seems triangular as on reverse "G". Attribution is by no means aided by the...
437The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$400.00
1793 "Electrotype of S-6", Vine/Bars Edge variety. VF.
Outstanding detail is featured on this electrotype, which was made prior to the Hobby Protection Act of 1974, and like the preceding, does not require "COPY" to be stamped onto it. The host coin must...
438The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$4,900.00
1793 Vine/Bars Edge/ Horizontal Stem/Large Round Bow (S-9, R-2). VF.
Exemplary presentation quality from the obverse side makes this an excellent choice for type purposes, though corrosive effects on the reverse must be noted. Overall color scheme is walnut-brown,...
490The Midwest Winter Sale 2009 on 02/13/2009$800.00
1793 Vine/Bars Edge, Horizontal Stem, High Triangular Bow (S-8, R-3)....
Attribution of this unevenly worn and incidentally abused wreath cent is aided by the sprig above the date and the ribbon style, leading to confirmation of S-8. The rim damage that distorts the shape...
