Lot Title:
|
1894 PCGS PF-67.
|
Description:
|
Absolutely without question, this is a staggering mind-boggling superb gem proof that must be seen to be believed. While not designated as a cameo, the contrast can't possibly be missed (hint hint, PCGS), but that isn't even what's most important here! Rather, it is the absurdly vivid, bright, brilliant, dazzling forest-green and lime-gold patina shining from the fields that creates inimitable eye-appeal -- and it materializes throughout the fields on both sides. Proof coins of this era can be found with strong eye-appeal, but this is a rarified level not often approached, which is precisely why the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award was invented. Technically "finer" coins exist, no doubt, but aesthetics is a whole 'nother ballgame. (PCGS# 004878)

1894 PCGS PF-64 CAC.

Brock Megran Collection. PCGS adroitly notes the very choice PF-64 grade, but chose not to designate noticeable cameo frost on the major design elements. Both the portrait and wreath are so-frosted,... |

1894 NGC PF-67.
|
If a proof Barber dime could be struck on a planchet made of pure water, it just might look like this stunning jewel. This is an outright untoned, unhazed and unimaginably bright silver coin, utterly... |

268 | The Collectors' Auction 2009 on 10/16/2009 | $825.00 |
1894 NGC MS-65.

Pristine, brilliant-white obverse quality is a little better than average for the grade, while the reverse has a carbon spot and planchet defect placing that side just a touch below average for the... |

600 | The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009 | $1,800.00 |
1894 NGC PF-66 Cameo.

Incredibly pristine in terms of surface quality, this coin features a dead-on cameo appearance that could not possibly be missed, and the toning pattern features delightful russet-lilac coloration... |

430 | The Collectors' Auction 2007 on 10/19/2007 | $190.00 |
1894 ANACS AU-53.
|
This is a very brilliant and lustrous coin for the AU-53 grade level. There are a reasonable number of tiny tics to attest to time spent circulating from pocket to pocket. 1894 is a better date in... |
