(About The Images)
1928 $500 St. Louis dark green seal PMG AU-55 EPQ. 1928 $500 St. Louis dark green seal PMG AU-55 EPQ.
Lot Title: 1928 $500 St. Louis dark green seal PMG AU-55 EPQ.
Description: Fr# 2200-Hdgs. A delicate bend at the lower right corner and perhaps a small touch of staining on the back lower right are likely all that separate this note from an UNC grade. $500 notes are very popular right now and a gorgeous example like this that saves a ton of money over CU should elicit active bidding. Color looks every bit of UNC.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

54The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,600.00
1928 $500 St. Louis dark green seal PMG AU-58 EPQ.
Fr# 2200-Hdgs. The bottom right corner was once-folded and drops the grade from CU to AU-58, but the "look" is every bit of the better grade. Beautifully centered.
56The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,650.00
1928 $500 St. Louis dark green seal PMG AU-58 EPQ.
Fr# 2200-Hdgs. Dark green seals make this a nice, scarce 1928 on St. Louis. A very tight left margin must be noted, but more important is some delicate wear on the extreme upper left corner.
57The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$1,850.00
1928 $500 St. Louis dark green seal PMG CU-62 EPQ.
Fr# 2200-Hdgs. An extremely thin left margin means the grade was dropped a point from Choice CU, although the rest of the components are there for an even higher assessment. A faint wave can just be...
58The Collectors' Auction - 2014 on 10/17/2014$2,902.00
1928 $500 St. Louis dark green seal PMG CHCU-64/minor thinning.
Fr# 2200-Hdgs. PMG offers the "minor thinning" disclaimer to explain why this note failed to meet the gem level, although it certainly faces up as such. This very desirable $500 is perfectly...
54The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$2,100.00
1928 $500.00 St. Louis Dark Green Seal. PCGS AU-58.
Fr# 2200a-H. First of a consecutive run of four notes (see other lots), H00035026A. These came to us in a stack, with this as the top note. Consequently, any mishandling would have affected just...
55The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$3,000.00
1928 $500.00 St Louis Dark Green Seal. PCGS CHCU-64.
Fr# 2200a-H. Second of a consecutive run of four notes (see other lots), H00035027A. Outstanding quality for this fresh $500, with vividly inked seals and great embossing. Just misses a gem grade...
56The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$2,700.00
1928 $500.00 St. Louis Dark Green Seal. PCGS CHCU-63.
Fr# 2200a-H. Third of a consecutive run of four notes (see other lots), H00035028A. Centered slightly better than the previous note, but given a point deduction due to slightly handling evident on...
57The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/26/2013$3,150.00
1928 $500.00 St. Louis Dark Green Seal. PCGS CHCU-64PPQ.
Fr# 2200a-H. Last of a consecutive run of four notes (see other lots), H00035029A. They must have saved the best for last, because this one shows unusually bright, shimmering paper with beautiful...

1928 $500.00 Richmond. PCGS GemCU-66PPQ.
Fr# 2200a-E. Only three Richmond notes have been reported at or above the GEM level, this being the finest in the certified census. An exquisite example, paper on both sides displays superb...

1928 $500.00 Atlanta. PMG VF-25.
Fr-2200F. The top edge has seen some wear, and the center of the lower back is noticeably soiled.

1928 $500.00 Atlanta. PMG VF-25.

1928 $500.00 St. Louis. PMG VF-25.
Fr-2200H. Front seems nicer than the assigned grade, though the back is moderately soiled on the left side.
71The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$700.00
1928 $500.00 Minneapolis. VF.
Fr-2200I. Some attempt was made to rub out stains above McKinley's portrait, but collectors will recognize that this is a better Minneapolis district note.
72The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$700.00
1928 $500.00 Kansas City. PMG VF-25.
Fr-2200J. Rusty appearing stains on both sides obviously determine the grade.
73The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$700.00
1928 $500.00 Kansas City. VF.
Fr-2200J. Definitely faces up better than the assigned VF grade, but a little limp and slightly soiled on the right side.

Fr-2210C. Very bright and quite close to a CU grade. The right edge is very tight.
76The Midwest Summer Sale on 07/24/2009$1,200.00
1928 $500.00 Chicago. PMG AU-55.

1928 $500.00 Atlanta. VF.

1928 $500.00 St. Louis. PMG CHCU-64.
Fr-2200H. The holder does little to hide the strong embossing that is clearly apparent. To give you an idea of how appealing this note is, there is a margin tear on the bottom margin, just to the...
152The Midwest Winter Sale 2008 on 02/08/2008$1,450.00
1928 $500.00 Chicago. AU+.
Fr-2200G. Scarce 1928 $500 dark green seal on Chicago district, and an example that has never been pressed. Only light handling prevents it from being uncirculated, and it wouldn't be surprising if...
193The Collector's Auction on 10/20/2006$1,050.00
1928 $500.00 New York. XF.
Fr-2200B. Scarce and splendid 1928 series $500 from New York district. Scattered teller ink is seen on the right side of the front, but it could likely be removed. Decent layout, and with embossing...

1928 $500.00 Richmond. XF.
