Description:

A fabulous mint error, for which about two-thirds of the obverse was missing the outer copper-nickel layer prior to being struck, resulting in a coin with a serious multiple-personality disorder issue! A “grade” is probably not meaningful for a coin like this, but the good luster and lack of friction on any of the reverse highpoints confirm the uncirculated status.
