Lot Title:
1878-CC VF-35++.
Description:
A most desirable Carson City Branch Mint issue with just a total of 9,054 struck. Of the number minted, a disproportionate number were lost or have drifted from the numismatic scene. This example's captivating yellow-gold surfaces do not depict any offensive marks, and the strike is most exceptional for the ascribed grade.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

1878-CC AU details/cleaned/damaged.
It is pretty evident even at arm's length that the surfaces are too bright for a coin with AU-50 details, and close up, hairlines can be seen streaming over both sides. Further detracting from value... |
