Lot Title:
1838 PCGS Genuine, AU details/cleaning.
Description:
Sometimes cleaning can demolish the appeal of a coin, but not so for this lemon-yellow eagle. Although clearly too bright to be original, the surfaces display only relatively light hairlines overall, and no evidence of harsh treatment. Perhaps more importantly, this coin has been surprisingly well preserved for a first-date-of-type, with no notable blemishes and none of the deep scars often seen for the date. As nice or nicer than many coins straight-graded AU-50. (PCGS# 008575)
