Lot Title:
|
1893 PF-63 Ultra Cameo/cleaned.
|
Description:
|
Both required elements for a sensational ultra-cameo appearance are present, including stark black-on-white contrast, and intensely reflective mirrors, especially on the reverse. Myriad hairlines flicker in and out of view on either side, and obviously perform the grade-limiting function, but they may prove acceptable at the PF-63 grade level. At distant arm's length, the apparent eye-appeal is off the charts! (PCGS# 004877)
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.

Careful inspection shows that there is technically far more cameo than one might expect of a coin not so designated, but we have to remember that this is a toned coin, and toned coins just don't get... |

1893 NGC PF-63 CAMEO.

Delicate honey-gold toning decorates the lower right third of the obverse, and similarly embellishes the lower third of the reverse, while the rest of the coin is off-white. The dies were relatively... |

Contrast in surface texture seemingly would qualify for a CAM designation, but opaque dusky-grey patina blankets the entire coin, limiting the ability to judge reflectivity. An intriguing and lovely... |

1893 PCGS PF-65.

Both sides of this early proof Barber dime are awash in indigo, cinnamon-orange and magenta colors, yet cameo effect (not so designated on the slab) is easily discernible throughout. Intricately... |
