Lot Title:
Nine uncut sheets of obsolete bank notes.
Description:
A remarkable group of uncut sheets of obsoletes, it goes without saying that these are the equivalent of superb, gem bank notes, as they could theoretically be separated into individual notes. That could ruin the historic aspect of these marvelous paper treasures, however, since there cannot by many high-quality uncut sheets like this still around. This has to be one of the most fascinating groups in our entire sale, comprised of sheets briefly described as follows: Bank of Lowville, choice (25-cent and 50-cent), Ridge Valley Iron Company, select with broad central water stain (4x 1-dollars), The County of Shenandoah, choice (2x 25-cents, 50-cents), Sackets Harbor Bank, select with writing at bottom (1-dollars, 2-dollar, 3-dollars, 4-dollars), The Union County Bank, New Jersey, gem (2x 5-dollars, 10-dollars, 20-dollars), Bank of the Republic, choice (5-dollars, 10-dollars), Norwich Bank, Preston, Connecticut, select (no denominations), The Borough of Princeton, New Jersey, partially cut (4x 5-cents, 3x 10-cents, 15-cents, 2x 25-cents) (Cataloger's note: the preceding is accompanied by a letter from Don C. Kelly dated 8/3/74, addressed to Jim DuPont (!!!) regarding , , its numbering sequence - TRULY AWESOME), Redford Glafs (glass?) Company, choice (2x 25-cents, 50-cents, 75-cents), and Stonington Bank, choice (2x 5-dollars, 10-dollars, 20-dollars). AMAZING! Nine pieces total.
This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
