It shouldn't surprise anyone that a Presidential dollar missing so much of the planchet would be missing edge lettering as well, since there is just no way such a coin would pass through the edge lettering machine successfully! The clip is quite large in this case -- 32% large, according to the precision instruments of PCGS. Impetus for the lower MS-62 grade is unclear, since the surfaces appear normal, and this coin sure as heck didn't circulated, but for errors like this, does anyone really care about "grade"? It's just plain amazing for what it is.
