Lot Title:
1890-CC PCGS AU-58.
Description:
Immediate visual impact of this very pale straw-gold half-eagle is that of a lower uncirculated coin, since much luster continues to revolve about each side. However, even without a glass, some weakness of strike is noticeable -- a standard characteristic of 1890-CC. Under magnification, minor wear from circulation becomes apparent, most obvious on the eagle's neck and talons, though amazingly, the obverse really does retain mint-state appeal. A number of widely scattered nicks and abrasions complete this picture of a "slider BU" gold coin.
