Lot Title:
|
1851 PCGS MS-66 RB.
|
Description:
|
Irrepressible "very gem" quality will appeal to any collector, whether looking for a type coin or a top flight addition to his date set of large-cents. About a third of the original, smoldering mint red color remains consistently visible throughout, and neither side is affected by grade limiting abrasions. Though the strike was powerful enough to disseminate vibrant luster throughout, the finest details lack definition due to the age of the dies. Only a meaningless, shallow old scratch above Liberty's portrait would seem to limit the grade. Unattributed, and estimated as an EAC 63+.

1851 PCGS MS-64RB.

This seems to be a completely original large-cent whose color has not been "helped", and the reverse borders upon being fully red. About two-thirds of the obverse mint red remains, leading to the... |

1851 PCGS MS-64BN.

This lovely example still retains tinges of red amongst the devices, stars, and date. A few speckles are, for the most part, mentioned for accuracy on this lustrous issue with exemplary central... |
